How CASIS Saves a Huge Amount of Time with Video Interviews

Every summer, the SHRM Annual Conference descends upon a city for a few days of HR pro networking, learning, and exhibiting. Spark Hire has been attending SHRM for many years and this year, SHRM was conveniently hosted in downtown Chicago. The Spark Hire team capitalized on the conference’s proximity to Spark Hire HQ to not only discuss the platform with conference attendees, but also to speak with our current customers.

I was sent to the conference to meet with some of our customers. We discussed why they love Spark Hire. Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore my conversations. First up, let me introduce you to Melody Kuehner. She works at the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space.

My name is Melody Kuehner, and I am the Director of Human Resources for the International Space Station, US National Laboratory.   

What challenges were you experiencing prior to using Spark Hire?

Prior to using Spark Hire as a department of one, I was manually cold calling a lot of candidates, and it was very time-consuming.

How did Spark Hire help you overcome those challenges?

Spark Hire allows me to source multiple candidates at one time by sending out multiple emails and getting a look at these candidates with pre-screening video interviews. Instead of cold calling and talking to everyone on the phone. It’s an absolute time-saver for me.

What aspect of Spark Hire have you found to be the most valuable?

I can gather all of the completed videos and send a link out to a hiring manager to let them prescreen and comment on the videos. It’s just a huge timesaver. We are a company that’s located across the US with employees and hiring managers in different locations so this gives them the virtual ability to view candidates through Spark Hire.

How long did it take you to get up and running?

Quickly! I mean, it’s very user-friendly! I have a new hire that I’ve been training to help me with the system – I’m a department of one, but have someone helping me now – and she’s reached out to Spark Hire, they give her one-on-one training to use the platform as well as it just being a user-friendly tool.

Would you recommend Spark Hire to others?

I absolutely would recommend Spark Hire to other HR professionals, this has been a huge time saver for me. The hiring managers love it, they are big advocates of it when I use [Spark Hire], they ask me to use it, we change up the questions based on the job posting. Using Spark Hire has been really simple and really fast to start.
