Hiring for the Healthcare System Using Spark Hire’s Video Interviews

CoxHealth is a six-hospital system in southwest Missouri with physician clinics in 25 nearby communities. With a company size of over 12,500 employees, CoxHealth was in need of a hiring tool capable of managing a large volume of candidates and a variety of open roles. Most importantly, CoxHealth’s Executive Recruiter, Ashley Gregory, says they needed a platform that would assist hiring managers in improving their shortlists. “We wanted to make it easy and less time consuming for our hiring leaders to pre-screen applicants before bringing them in for an in-person interview,” explains Gregory.

With these goals in mind, the hiring team at CoxHealth began looking into video interviewing. With it’s easy to use, customizable interface, Spark Hire became their hiring solution.

Getting started with Spark Hire

As first time users of a video interview platform, it was important that the software was user-friendly for applicants, hiring leaders, and recruiters alike. Additionally, the team required unmatched, 24/7 customer support for applicants to turn to if needed.

The team at CoxHealth found the Spark Hire platform extremely intuitive and easy to use. “[Spark Hire’s onboarding specialists] provide so many useful tools and templates to make the implementation process a breeze,” says Gregory, adding, “The account managers we’ve worked with have been very knowledgeable about the product and helpful to ensure we implement best practices during the set up phase. They are consistently available to train and retrain our staff when we implemented video interviewing through the entire system.”

More confident hiring decisions

After a successful onboarding phase, the team was quick to implement the software across the organization. Gregory received instant positive feedback from their hiring managers, thrilled they were no longer losing valuable time in their day to endless phone screens. Now, recruiters and hiring leaders could filter through a pool of applicants with short, digestible one-way video interviews. In just five minutes they were gleaning more valuable insight than a 20-minute phone call, resulting in more confident hiring decisions.

Efficient and effective hiring solution

The team at CoxHealth used the Spark Hire software for several months before the COVID-19 Pandemic hit. With the healthcare industry taking on such a massive blow, and constantly needing new hires, Gregory and her team were grateful to have the safe, remote-friendly technology already in place. “During the pandemic our system suspended in-person interviews. So we were grateful we had already been using Spark Hire!” says Gregory, adding, “We easily turned to it to replace in-person interviews during a trying time for healthcare. Video interviews help ease the recruiters and hiring leaders’ minds, knowing we already had a useful tool to not delay the hiring process.”

At a time when the healthcare industry was in need of an efficient and effective hiring solution, Spark Hire made it easier for recruiters and hiring managers to navigate the scary and stressful hiring challenges of the past year. The team was able to remain flexible and adaptable through it all.

The future of hiring

Gregory and the entire hiring team for CoxHealth immediately recognized the benefits of implementing video interviews into their hiring process. “Applicants like to be able to complete the pre-screening process on their own time and not be caught off guard with a phone call. It’s quick and easy to implement and all staff will love using it as part of their interview process,” explains Gregory. Not to mention, having the proper technology already in place to navigate a global pandemic allowed the CoxHealth team the ability to remain nimble and resourceful in the face of crisis. The Spark Hire platform is now considered an indispensable tool for their day-to-day operations.
